For over seven years, I’ve been the person sitting across the table. Reviewing resumes. Asking the questions. Deciding who moves forward. I’ve done that across pharmaceutical companies, NGOs, and fast growing tech startups.

I hold a BSc in Accounting and Finance, and an MS in Strategic Human Resource Management, and my research has been published. But honestly, the truest education came from that seat across the table.

From Career Break to HR Consultant

There’s a part of my story most people don’t know though. Before any of this, I stepped away from work entirely to be a stay at home mom. When I decided to return in 2020, I sat down to write my own resume and I froze. Me, someone who would later go on to screen thousands of resumes professionally, couldn’t figure out how to explain my own gap.

I got back in as HR Officer. In 2021, I stepped into my first HR Manager role and built the entire HR function from scratch. No playbook, no handover, just me figuring out what a growing company actually needed. I digitized messy paper processes. I hired everyone from software engineers to social mobilizers. And along the way, I saw the same mistakes over and over again, plus the small wins that changed everything.

That experience taught me something no job title ever could. Knowing the rules from the recruiter’s side and knowing how it feels to break them are two completely different things. Today, working as an HR Consultant, I help my clients navigate both.
